PHIL VASSAR back for TWO Shows in Historic ASTORIA....EAGLE LISTENERS flock to the LIBERTY!!

Phil Vassar is both a winsome singer and a successful songwriter, and this disc pairs his own hits with new versions of ones he wrote for others. “My Next Thirty Years” was a hit for Tim McGraw, and “I’m Alright” was a hit for Jo Dee Messina; here they take their place alongside Mr. Vassar’s own country hits, like “Just Another Day in Paradise” and “Last Day of My Life,” which is released for the first time on this CD.

Two amazing shows, once again, at the LIBERTY Theater in Astoria with PHIL VASSAR! One of my favorite artists, as well as a favorite of EAGLE listeners …. it was a no-brainer that we were going to have a great time! I have received e-mails from everywhere thanking THE EAGLE and our sponsors for bringing Phil Vassar back to Astoria.

I hadn’t seen Gordon or Phil, since Jerry & I headed to the Country Jam this summer, so on a personal note, it was great to see everyone again. Being in Astoria for 2 days this time, Phil and crew, were able to enjoy our corner of history here on the coast and relax a bit before heading back off again, for more appearances, concerts and everything that goes along with the hectic life of a #1 hit-making country star, singer/songwriter, Emmy nominated, award winning, entertainer, who always gives his fans, his all.

This year, it was PHIL, his piano, guitar player and manager that came out. Without the full band, Country’s own, ‘Piano Man’- PHIL was very talkative with the audience and was HYSTERICAL… our EAGLE listeners got a treat to interact so much with Phil and experience his talent and good nature, first hand and in person.

He was so kicked back and personable with the audience, not that he isn’t always, but he really had fun with all of you between and during songs. Oh! And let’s not forget, the sing-a-long….‘Summer Lovin’ from the movie GREASE! It was award winning for all of us that sang along! Ha-ha!

At a remote downtown on Saturday morning that I was working, it was a beautiful sunny day. Phil stopped to chat, while he also had the blue tooth connected to his ear, always busy, he was looking comfortable in his running gear... checking out our little town....I found out later that night at the show that he went to the Astor Column and RAN up the spiral stairs (164 of them) to the top. My response to that was, “are you insane?!” http://www.oregoncoast.com/Astorcol/Astorcol.htm

It was another successful show in EAGLE COUNTRY! Thanks to ALL of you!

Phil’s NEW album – Phil Vassar’s Greatest Hits, Volume 1
On Greatest Hits, Volume 1, Phil reconnects with those songs that first made a name for him in Music City, USA. You know the songs—chart-topping hits made famous by the likes of Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Jo Dee Messina and others. But for the first time on CD, you can hear them the way they were originally written and conceived…in the voice that first gave them life and breath. Phil sees his new album as a chance for him to do what some of his favorite composers have done. “I always like to hear the songwriter do the song. Nobody does a song better than the songwriter. Especially if they lived it and breathed it. That’s where the best songs come from.” Call it “Phil Vassar: In His Own Words”—in a more complete volume and form than he’s ever created before. –
